Box Score The Wabash College soccer team scored twice in the first eight minutes of its Friday evening match at Franklin College en route to a 3-0 victory to start the 2023 season.
 
Wabash (1-0) got a goal from Jose Escalante three minutes into the match. The sophomore scored his sixth career goal after collecting a pass from Myles Bernat, who picked up the assist.
 
Escalante doubled the score a few minutes later, scoring an unassisted goal with 7:48 on the clock to put the Little Giants in front 2-0. Escalante picked up an assist for a five-point night with a pass to Jesse Martinez to score the third goal of the evening for Wabash in the 14^th minute of the second half.
 
Wabash outshot Franklin (0-1) 16-12 overall and owned an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Fernando Ramos turned away both shots on net by the Grizzlies to earn his first career victory and shutout as a Wabash goalkeeper.
 
Wabash travels to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday, September 6, for a 7 p.m. match against the Fightin' Engineers.
