Little Giants Cruise To 52-0 Sunday Win at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio -- Five different players reached the end zone as Wabash defeated Oberlin 52-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Knowlton Complex. The game was moved from Saturday to Sunday out of respect for the Yom Kippur holiday.
 
The Little Giants improved to 4-1 on the year and 3-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play, while the Yeomen fell to 0-6 and 0-4.
 
Wabash took advantage of two Oberlin fumbles and a turnover on downs in the first quarter to race out to a 28-0 lead. Connor Thompson scored on receptions of 15 and 22 yards on the Little Giants' first two offensive series. Thompson caught three passes for 45 yards and the two scores. Eleven different Little Giants caught passes. Tim Miller scored his first career touchdown on a 25-yard reception. Nick Witte added three receptions for 30 yards.
 
Xavier Tyler picked up a two-yard TD run for the third score of the first quarter to give Wabash a 21-0 lead. Miller's touchdown put the Little Giants up 28-0 heading into the second quarter. Cole Dickerson scored on a 34-yard run and Tyler added a 14-yard touchdown run to close out the scoring in the first half for Wabash.
 
Austin Pickett and Rowan Durbin handled most of the carries in the second half, with Pickett scoring his first career touchdown on a 15-yard run in the third quarter. The junior led Wabash with nine runs for 78 yards. Durbin finished with ten carries for 43 yards. Seven different Little Giants combined for 183 rushing yards on 38 attempts.
 
Brody Rucker supplied the only points in the fourth quarter on a 19-yard field goal try. The junior made all seven extra-point tries to finish with ten points for the afternoon.
 
Starting quarterback Brand Campbell completed all 13 pass attempts for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Adam Mullett completed four of five pass attempts for 17 yards.
 
The Little Giants outgained Oberlin 374 yards to 17. The Little Giants limited Oberlin to minus-nine yards rushing in 26 attempts. The Yeomen committed four fumbles and lost three with recoveries by Gavin Ruppert, Jordan Cree, and Leo Banaskiewicz. Wabash recorded interceptions by Cole Williams and Will Freeman while holding the Yeomen 26 passing yards.
 
Ryan Keating led Wabash on defense with three solo tackles and one assist for four total stops. RJ Tolbert and William Harris each recorded three tackles. Luke Purichia, Luke Cushing, Nick Page, Patrick Greene, and Richard Clevenger all picked up sacks in the game. The Little Giants combined for 12 tackles for losses totaling 52 yards on defense.
 
Wabash returns home for the first time since September 14 when the Little Giants play host to the Hiram College Terriers on Saturday, October 19, at 1 p.m.
