Little Giants Take Down Husson In Spring Break Lacrosse Action

Wabash scored ten goals in the first half and 11 in the second half of the Little Giants' spring break lacrosse game against Husson University to claim a 21-8 victory at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tuesday afternoon.
 
Quinn Fitzgerald matched his uniform number by scoring seven goals. The junior attackman added one assist for Wabash (4-1). Jake Pippen picked up five goals for the Little Giants. Will Sorg scored three times. Christian Dybedock notched a pair of goals, and Nate Jones, Blake Stephens, Artie Rogers, and Sam Santiago each scored one goal. Dybedock, Santiago, and Zade Kalesperis gave out one assist apiece.
 
Fitzgerald gave Wabash a 1-0 lead five minutes into the contest with his tenth goal of the season. Jones added a goal 19 seconds later. Stephens, Pippen, and Sorg followed with first-period goals to put the Little Giants in front 5-0 before Husson (0-2) scored to close out the period with Wabash leading 5-1.
 
Fitzgerald added three more goals in the second period, along with goals from Pippen and Rogers. The Little Giants tallied six goals in the third period before closing with a five-goal fourth period to win the game.
 
Wabash outshot Husson 45-25 and put 28 shots on goal compared to 16 by the Eagles. Little Giant goalkeeper Colin Krekeler made seven saves in 51 minutes of action in front of the cage. Hayden Hicks recorded one save in eight minutes in goal.
 
Luke DiFilippo led Wabash with 15 ground balls. He won 20 of 25 faceoffs for the Little Giants. Wabash finished the game 25-of-32 at the dot overall. Quinn Shefferly caused eight turnovers in the game. Wabash forced a total of 14 turnovers overall defensively.
 
Wabash continues its spring break schedule with a game at Virginia Wesleyan on  Friday, March 8, at 5 p.m.
