Wednesday's North Coast Athletic Conference tennis match between Wabash and DePauw came down to two final singles matches to decide a winner. The Little Giants could not find a victory in either match, ending in a 6-3 loss to the host Tigers.

Wabash (10-7, 2-1 NCAC)Â trailed 2-1 after the three doubles matches. The duo of
Augusto Ghidini and
Cole Shifferly, the NCAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, scored an 8-7 victory in their number-one doubles match, winning 9-7 in the tiebreaker.

The Little Giants trailed 4-1 after losing the first two singles matches.
Tharakesh Ashokar trimmed the DePauw (10-6, 3-0) lead to 4-2 by winning his number-four singles match 6-1, 7-6 with a 7-3 victory in the tiebreaking game.
Rafael Rin earned a three-set victory in the fifth singles flight by scores picking up wins in the second and third sets after losing 2-6 in the first. Rin rallied for a 6-4 victory in the second set before winning the third set by a score of 6-3.

The Little Giants forced both remaining singles matches to three sets, needing wins in both to earn the team victory. Wabash forced third sets in each match by rallying for second-set victories but could not keep the rally going before losing both matches.

Wabash continues its NCAC schedule of matches with two weekend contests. The Little Giants travel to Wittenberg University on Saturday before playing host to Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.
