Wabash split a home doubleheader against Asbury University from Kentucky in non-conference action at Goodrich Ballpark Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants won 6-4 in the series opener before a late rally fell short in a 5-4 loss to the Eagles in game two.

Wabash (10-10) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of game one on a two-run single from
Reece Bauer. The Little Giants answered a one-run top of the seventh by Asbury (13-13) with four runs in the bottom of the frame.
AJ Reid brought the first run home with a sacrifice fly ahead of a two-run single by
Kamden Earley.
Benjamin Henke drove in the final run with a double down the left-field line to put Wabash in front 6-1. The Eagles added three runs in the ninth inning before reliever
Dylan Haslett ended the threat by Asbury.

Grant Stratton pitched 5.2 innings to earn his first win of the season. He held Asbury without a run on four hits and struck out one batter.
Caleb Everson and Robby Manuzzi combined to pitch 2.1 innings of three-hit baseball. Everson allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out two. Manuzzi limited Asbury to one hit in one inning of work. Haslett surrendered three runs on four hits and a walk in the final inning while striking out two batters.

Bauer and Earley each collected two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Wabash. Henke and
Michael Galanos also finished with two hits for the Little Giants.

Wabash rallied from a 5-0 deficit in game two and put the tying run on third with two outs in the eighth inning. The Little Giants were just 1-of-11 with runners in scoring position and finished 5-of-18 with runners on base.

Wabash cut into the Eagles' 5-0 lead with three runs in the fourth inning.
Evan Neukam delivered a two-run homer to left field for his first career longball to end the shutout. Reid drove in a third run in the inning with a double.
Camden Scheidt hit an RBI double with two outs in the eighth inning to bring Wabash within a run, but the inning ended with the tying run at third base. Asbury closed out the game in the ninth to claim the one-run victory.

Bauer, Reid, Scheidt, and Neukam each picked up two hits in the game.
Aidan McConnell took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings while allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks.

Wabash and Asbury complete the series Sunday with an 11 a.m. contest at Goodrich Ballpark.
