Reid Breaks Wabash All-Time Hits Record In Doubleheader Split With Wooster

Little Giants' Season Ends After Game-Two Loss

Wabash College senior AJ Reid became the Little Giants baseball team's all-time leader in hits by collecting four hits over the course of Saturday's home doubleheader against the College of Wooster. Wabash took a 9-4 victory in game one against the visiting Fighting Scots but saw the 2024 season end with a 7-3 loss in the second game of the North Coast Athletic Conference twin bill.

Reid entered the game tied for second place on the career hits list with 206 before picking up three hits in the first game for Wabash (22-18, 8-8 NCAC). The senior third baseman delivered a double in the first inning, then added a triple in the second. Reid snapped the former record of 208 hits set by Sean Roginski from 2016-2019 with a single to center field in the sixth inning. Reid added another base hit in the second game to end his career with 210 hits over his four-year career. He finished his career as the Little Giants' all-time leader in hits, runs scored (160), and hit batsman (57), and tied for second in career doubles (48).

Wabash finished tied for fourth place in the final NCAC standings, matching the 8-8 record of the Kenyon College Owls in conference games. A two-game sweep by the Owls in the head-to-head matchup against the Little Giants put Kenyon into the final berth in the upcoming 2024 NCAC Baseball Tournament and ended the Wabash season.
