CRAWFORDSVILLE, IN -- Wabash opened the home portion of its 2024 men's soccer schedule with a 2-1 victory over Rose-Hulman. The win snapped a six-game streak without a win by the Little Giants against the Fightin' Engineers dating back to 2015.
The win improved Wabash's record to 2-0-0 overall. Rose-Hulman fell to 0-1-1.
How it Happened
Wabash broke the scoreless tie when Jose Escalante notched his second goal of the season in the 29th minute, assisted by Evan Miller.
The Little Giants added another score on a goal from Angel Vazquez -- his first goal of the season -- in the 33rd minute, assisted by Niall Gavin.
Rose-Hulman closed the gap to 2-1 on Tyler Eldridge's 70th-minute goal, assisted by Oliver Fila. Wabash held off the visitors in the match's closing stages behind solid defense and good goalkeeping from senior Fernando Ramos, who finished the night with four saves.
