Crawfordsville, Ind. — Wabash senior running back Xavier Tyler has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Football Offensive Athlete of the Week after leading the Little Giants to a 34-7 win at the College of Wooster on Saturday.
Tyler rushed for a team-high 127 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries, averaging 9.1 yards per attempt. He also added two receptions for 11 yards. His highlight came on the third play from scrimmage in the second half, when he broke free for a 70-yard touchdown run — the longest play from scrimmage for Wabash this season.
The performance marked the eighth time in Tyler's career that he has eclipsed 100 rushing yards in a game. His 127-yard effort also pushed him past the 2,000-yard mark for his career. He now ranks 16th on the Little Giants' all-time rushing list with 2,043 career yards.
