CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Wabash College snapped a four-game losing streak Wednesday evening with a 2-1 victory over Adrian College at Fischer Field.
The Little Giants (4-5-0) rallied from an early deficit, evening the score in the 39th minute when Jesse Martinez converted a penalty kick after Adrian defender Dominic Kretschmer was booked for dissent inside the box.
Wabash carried that momentum into the second half. Just four minutes after the break, Bryce Kinnaman delivered the go-ahead strike with a shot from the right wing in the 49th minute, his second goal of the season.
Adrian (2-7-0) opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Nick Miller dribbled into the center of the field and buried a 24-yard shot for his first goal of the year. The Bulldogs were held without a shot on goal in the second half as Wabash tightened defensively.
The Little Giants outshot Adrian 19-9 and held a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks. Wabash goalkeeper Ansel Rincon earned the win without needing to make a save, improving to 4-4 on the year. Adrian keeper Eli Sizemore stopped three shots in the loss.
Wabash continues non-conference play Saturday with a trip to Illinois Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT in Bloomington, Illinois.
