Series History
Saturday's contest marks the second meeting between the two programs. Wabash won last year's season opener 31-0 at Little Giant Stadium.
Last Season's Matchup
Wabash defeated St. Norbert 31-0 in last year's opener in Crawfordsville, recording its first shutout since 2019. The Little Giants held the Green Knights to 232 total yards while forcing two turnovers. Samuel Ringer provided the highlight of the game with a 100-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Xavier Tyler added 70 rushing yards and two scores, while the Wabash defense produced 10 tackles from Brock Robertson and an interception from Gavin Ruppert.
Returning Talent
Twelve starters return from last year's team, including six on offense, four on defense, and two specialists. Nine players earned All-NCAC recognition in 2024. Senior offensive tackle Quinn Sholar was named to the 2025 D3football.com Preseason All-America Second Team after helping Wabash rank second in the NCAC in rushing offense (166.8 yards per game) and scoring (35.9 points per game).
Quarterback Brand Campbell, who took over in Week 2 last season, returns after throwing for 1,939 yards and 19 touchdowns with a 69-percent completion rate. Running back Xavier Tyler, who rushed for 1,091 yards and nine scores in 2024, leads a veteran backfield. Linebacker Gavin Ruppert, an All-NCAC selection and three-year starter, enters the season ranked eighth on the Wabash career tackles list with 264.
Scouting the Green Knights
St. Norbert posted an 8-3 overall record and 7-1 mark in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play last season to finish second in the standings. The Green Knights averaged 30.7 points per game and limited opponents to 13.7.
Senior quarterback Michael Meneguzzo takes over under center after appearing in two games in 2024. Running back Will Darden returns after rushing for 284 yards and two touchdowns a season ago. All-conference linemen Lucas Tappy and Logan Erchull anchor the offensive front.
Defensively, St. Norbert must replace All-America defensive back Brett Boelkow, who recorded six interceptions last season. Senior defensive end Nate Lee and linebacker Brian Treacy are among the team's top returning tacklers. The Green Knights will also have a new look on defense under coordinator Rob Huberty, who arrives after six seasons in the same role at Dubuque.
