Little Giants Fall 5-0 to DePauw in NCAC Tournament Quarterfinals

GRANVILLE, Ohio — The No. 49 Wabash College men's tennis team saw its season come to an end Friday, falling 5-0 to No. 29 DePauw University in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at the Denison Tennis Courts.

The fifth-seeded Little Giants (14-11) were unable to overcome the fourth-seeded Tigers (16-9), as DePauw claimed the doubles point and four singles victories to complete the shutout.

Wabash's troubles began in doubles play, where DePauw clinched the crucial first point of the match by winning two of three doubles contests.

The first doubles match to finish was at No. 3, where Scott Anderson and Wils Warren defeated Vittorio Bona and Cole Shifferly, 6-4. The Tigers then sealed the doubles point at the No. 2 position, where Paul Castleman and Will Hutchinson topped the Little Giants' Murilo Guarniari and Edmon Neto, 6-2.

Wabash picked up a win at number one doubles when the team of Augusto Ghidini and Rafael Rin defeated Finley Buelte and William Cramer, 7-5.

In singles, the Tigers wasted little time extending their lead. No. 2 singles was the first to finish, as Anderson defeated Rin, 6-1, 6-0, giving the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.

DePauw pushed the lead to 3-0 at No. 5 singles, where Cramer dispatched Neto, 6-3, 6-2.

At No. 1 singles, Buelte outlasted Guarniari in a competitive match. Guarniari forced a first-set tiebreaker but fell 7-6 (7-4) before Buelte pulled away in the second set, 6-2, making it 4-0 Tigers.

Filippo Fassone defeated Bona, 7-5, 6-3, at number six singles, ending the match and the Little Giants' season.

Two singles matches were left unfinished when the match was clinched. At No. 3 singles, Shifferly and Castleman were at 6-7, 2-3, while at No. 4 singles, Tharakesh Ashokar held a first-set lead of 6-4 and was knotted at 5-5 in the second set against Viktor Ronnberg.
