Day, Thang Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Wabash College senior wrestler James Day and junior volleyball player Bawibawi Thang have been named to the 2026 Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.

Day, a biology major from Phillipsburg, New Jersey, earned Academic All-District honors after finishing as the 2026 NCAA Division III national runner-up at 133 pounds. He won the NCAA Division III Region V championship to qualify for the national tournament.

Day finished his senior season with a 39-8 record, including 11 pins and 13 technical falls. He earned All-America honors for the third time in his career with his second-place finish at the national championship meet. Day was named a 2026 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient, a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American for the fourth consecutive season, and completed his Wabash career ranked sixth in program history with 134 victories. 

Day was selected as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America Team. All-America honorees will be announced July 8.

Thang, a biology major from Indianapolis, earned Academic All-District honors after leading the Wabash volleyball team during the 2026 season. The junior outside hitter played in and started 19 matches for the Little Giants.

Thang was named to the 2026 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League First Team after earning Honorable Mention honors in 2024 and Second Team recognition in 2025. He led Wabash in nearly every offensive category, finishing the season with 266 kills in 71 sets while hitting .269 on 583 attempts. He added 126 digs, 21 service aces, and 29 total blocks.

Thang ranked second in the MCVL in kills per set at 3.75, trailing only Baldwin Wallace's Jacob Esteves at 3.93. Thang also ranked second in the conference in points per set at 4.32, totaling 306.5 points for the season. He tied for 10th in the league in service aces per set at 0.30.

The CSC Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team is part of the organization's Academic All-America program, which separately recognizes honorees in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
