Darold Hughes is entering his seventh year on staff with the Little Giants and third season as the wide receivers coach. In his time at Wabash, Hughes has mentored seven All- NCAC Selections at running back, including an NCAC Offensive Player of the Year, D3football.com North Region Offensive Player of the year, d3football.com First Team All-America Selection, as well as the All Time Leading Rusher in Wabash College Football history. In 2014 Hughes landed two running backs on the NCAC First Team Offense. Freshman wide receiver Cooper Sullivan earned Second Team All-NCAC honors in 2019 under Hughes' tutelige. 

Hughes came to Wabash after coaching one season at Becker College in Leicester, Massachusetts where he helped the program set the third-highest rushing total in school history. He also worked as a graduate residential director, assisting with 18 residential hall buildings on campus. Hughes also supervised three resident assistants and provided crisis intervention and conflict resolution for students.

Hughes played quarterback at Glenville State College in West Virginia. He earned four varsity letters, threw for 4,861 yards and finished his career sixth on the GSC all-time touchdown-passing list with 37. He earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in 2011 and served as a captain for the Pioneers for three seasons. He also served as a student assistant in the spring of 2012, helping with the offensive skill position players. Hughes graduated from Glenville State in 2012 with a bachelors of science in sport management. During his time at Glenville State, Hughes worked as a resident assistant where he handled the day-to-day operations of a facility housing 152 students and assisted with other facilities totaling over 300 students.

Hughes initially attended Florida International University in Miami, Florida after graduating from high school. He spent two season as a scout team quarterback for the Panthers before transferring to Glenville State.

Hughes resides in Crawfordsville with his wife, Sami, and their daughter, Harper.
