Glen Rowell joins the Wabash College football coaching staff as an assistant coach working with the defensive tackles, bringing a diverse background that spans collegiate athletics, high school coaching, recruiting, and professional playing experience.

Rowell arrives at Wabash with recent head coaching and coordinator experience at the high school level. He served as head football coach and defensive coordinator at Irvington Preparatory Academy in Indiana from August 2025 to January 2026, following a brief stint in the same roles at Schlarman Academy in Illinois during the summer of 2025. Earlier in 2024, Rowell was the defensive coordinator at Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, where he also coached the offensive and defensive lines.

Rowell’s early coaching experience includes time at Hoopeston High School in Illinois, where he worked from June 2017 to November 2018 as a recruiting liaison and defensive and offensive skills coach. In that role, he assisted with player development on both sides of the ball while supporting recruiting efforts and athlete exposure.

In addition to his football background, Rowell has extensive multi-sport coaching and administrative experience. He worked as the athletic director and head track & field coach at Rooted School Indianapolis from 2023 to 2024 and has held multiple wrestling coaching roles, including assistant wrestling coach at Lawrence Central High School and assistant head wrestling coach at Danville High School. His coaching résumé also includes time as an assistant head track & field coach at North Ridge Middle School in Illinois.

At the collegiate level, Rowell spent nearly four years at Kentucky Wesleyan College, an NCAA Division II program, where he coached the defensive line and served as the program’s recruiting coordinator. His responsibilities expanded to include assistant wrestling coach and community relations coordinator, giving him broad experience in player development, recruiting operations, and external engagement.

Rowell is also active in the recruiting landscape as the Scout Director for Illinois and Indiana with National High School Recruiting Prospects (NHR Prospects), a role he has held since April 2025.

As a player, Rowell competed professionally in arena football from 2015 to 2018, playing middle linebacker for the Kansas City Phantoms, Tri-Town Titans, and Bloomington Edge in the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) league. He played at Kentucky Christian University as a middle linebacker and hybrid defensive end after beginning his career at Joliet Junior College. A native of Illinois, Rowell was a middle linebacker at Danville High School.
