Franklin is in his third season as a defensive backs coach. He came to Wabash after serving as the assistant secondary coach working with cornerbacks at the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts last season.
Franklin worked at Bridgton Academy in Maine from 2012-2014 as special teams coordinator, secondary coach, and defensive coordinator before being elevated to interim head coach and recruiting coordinator in 2014 prior to taking the position at Holy Cross. He served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Minas Locomotivas, Belo Horizonte in Brasil for the 2011 season. Prior to his experience in Brasil, Franklin worked at Wright State University from 2009 to 2011, staring as defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator before taking the defensive coordinator position in 2010. He started his coaching career at Central State University in 2009 as defensive backs coach.
Franklin graduated from Central State in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He was named First Team All-American as a senior for the Marauders after leading all of Division III with eight interceptions to go with 45 total tackles and 10-1/2 tackles for losses. He went on to play two years in Continental Indoor Football League with the Cincinnati Commandos, helping the squad capture a pair of league titles with a two-year record of 23-1. Franklin also played for the 2011 U.S. Men’s National Team in the fourth International Federation of American Football Senior World Championship in Austria. He became familiar with Wabash during practices held at the College prior to the team’s departure for Europe. The U.S. Team won the world title and worked with Little Giants’ coach Erik Raeburn, who served as offensive line coach for the team.
Franklin is single and resides in Crawfordsville.
