Olmy Olmstead, a four-year letter winner as a member of the Wabash College football team from 2000-2003, is entering his 12th season in 2024 as a coach at Wabash. He serves as the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for the football program. In his 19 years coaching college football he has coached numerous players awarded with all-conference, all-American, and academic all-American honors.

Olmstead, a history major and classics minor, graduated in 2004 after a record-setting career with the Little Giants. A four-year placekicker at Wabash, he also spent two years as an offensive lineman and two years as a fullback.  He kicked nine extra points against Denison University in 2000, then equaled the mark again in 2003 versus Hiram College to top the Wabash single-game record listing along with Ian MacDougall (9 vs. Hanover in 2013). He ranks sixth all-time in extra point kicks with 103 and is seventh in field goal percentage (61.5).  Olmstead made 40 extra point tries in 2001, the fifth-best single-season effort in school history. Among the last of the straight-on kickers, his square-toed kicking shoe was placed in an NCAA Hall of Champions display at the conclusion of his career.

After graduating from Wabash, Olmstead spent five seasons at Wilmington College as an assistant coach. He started as the placekicking and running backs coach for the Quakers for one year before handling duties as Wilmington’s linebackers and kicking coach in addition to head junior varsity coach. He also served as the team’s academic coordinator and community service director. Olmstead coached the tight ends and fullbacks in his final two years at Wilmington and was named the special teams coordinator and director of football operations.

Olmstead left Wilmington after earning a master's degree in education to take a position at Eastern Michigan University as the offensive graduate assistant and offensive line coach. He spent three seasons with the Eagles, helping the squad rank 16th in rushing yards (218.3 ypg) among NCAA DI Football Bowl Subdivision teams. Olmstead’s offensive line won the Mid-American Conference Michigan Championship in 2011. While at Eastern Michigan he also completed work in their doctoral program in educational leadership. He left EMU for a position at Defiance College in 2012, working as the offensive line coach and academic coordinator for the Yellow Jackets prior to returning to Wabash.

Olmy is married to Dr. Laura Wysocki, associate professor of chemistry at Wabash. They reside in Crawfordsville with their daughter, Abigail.
