Ryan Bowerman returned to his alma mater in December 2020 to take the reigns of the Wabash volleyball program as head coach.

Bowerman led the Little Giants to a 2-14 record in their inaugural season with a pair of Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League victories at Wittenberg. Wabash finished 3-18 in season two, including a 3-0 win against Wisconsin Lutheran to record the program's first home victory.

Bowerman returned to the Wabash campus after earning his bachelor’s degree as a mathematics major and Spanish minor in 2011. He received a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies from Indiana University Kokomo in 2016. Bowerman began his coaching career as the student president of the Wabash College volleyball club team, serving in that role for all four years.
 
Bowerman came to Wabash after serving as the assistant volleyball coach at Xavier University of Louisiana since June 2019. He was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NAIA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019 after helping the Gold Nuggets’ team advance to the NAIA national championship site for the first time in school history. Bowerman also worked as the assistant volleyball coach at IU Kokomo for two seasons while earning his master’s degree. The Cougars posted a record of 53-19 in two seasons with Bowerman as an assistant coach and team academic liaison.
 
He worked as the varsity assistant volleyball coach at nearby North Montgomery High School for five seasons. Bowerman also served as the head coach for the Indy Juniors Volleyball Club in Zionsville, Indiana, for six seasons.
