Jake Fredricksen was named head wrestling coach at Wabash College in October 2023 after serving as interim head coach since the start of the season. He originally joined the Little Giants' coaching staff in September 2018 and was promoted to associate head coach in 2022.
Since his arrival, Fredricksen has helped guide Wabash to national prominence. As an assistant, he mentored 14 All-Americans and two national champions, playing a pivotal role in the program’s runner-up finish at the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships. That team sent seven wrestlers to nationals, produced five All-Americans, and earned Scholar All-America honors from the NWCA.
In his first season as head coach in 2023–24, Fredricksen led Wabash to a second-place finish at both the Manchester Spartan Mat Classic and the Adrian Invitational. The Little Giants qualified six wrestlers for the NCAA Division III Championships, highlighted by James Day’s third-place finish at 125 pounds. Wabash also earned five NWCA Scholar All-America awards, and Fredricksen was named the NWCA Division III Rookie Coach of the Year.
The momentum continued in 2024–25. Wabash qualified five wrestlers for the NCAA Division III Championships, with Chase Baczek placing third at 197 pounds and Day earning a fourth-place finish at 133 pounds—adding two more All-America honors to the program’s storied history. The team placed 12th overall at nationals, won the season-opening Adrian Invitational, and picked up three dual-meet victories during the campaign.
Fredricksen arrived at Wabash with previous coaching experience at the University of Indianapolis (2017–18), where he worked with four NCAA Division II national qualifiers and one All-American. He also served on the staff at North Central College (2014–17) and spent the 2013–14 season at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, helping the Warhawks to a national runner-up finish with five All-Americans.
A three-time NCAA Division III national qualifier and team captain at UW–Whitewater, Fredricksen was named team MVP and earned a bachelor’s degree in health and human performance in 2013. He completed his master’s degree in sport leadership at North Central in 2016.
