Chase Belton has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, for his efforts in the Little Giants' 49-0 victory Saturday over Kenyon.
Belton accounted for five of Wabash's seven touchdowns against the Lords, throwing for three and running for two scores. He completed 11 of his 13 pass attempts for 203 yards, including a 47-yard TD pass to
Wes Chamblee, a 61-yard scoring strike to
Jonathan Horn, and a seven-yard pass for a touchdown to
Jeff Bell. Belton became the first Little Giant player to amass more than 100 rushing yards in a game this season, carrying the ball five times for 110 yards. He scored on carries of 47 and 13 yards.
Belton, a product of Northmont High School in Dayton, Ohio, has completed 51 of 85 pass attempts this season for 849 yards and 11 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He is 176-of-284 in passing for 2,577 yards and 28 touchdowns to this point in his career. He threw for a total of 13 touchdowns last season while splitting time at quarterback. Belton is averaging 3.1 yards per carry this season, rushing for a total of 140 yards in 45 attempts.
The Wabash football team is 4-0 and is ranked 12th in the latest D3football.com poll and 13th by the American Football Coaches Association.
