The Little Giants traveled to Granville, Ohio to face the two-time defending NCAA DIII Men's national champions, the Denison University Big Red. Wabash scored several good performances in a 266-129 defeat.
Jake Childress set a pool record in the new Trumbull Aquatic Center at Denison by winning the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 24.88. Childress added a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke (55.20).
Jack Belford won the 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall first with a time of 1:58.62. He scored first-place points in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:20.13.
Andy Chorpenning earned second-place points to the Little Giants' team totals wtih a time of 4:35.39.
Elliot Johns finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.40.
Steve Batchelder took third place with a time of 1:49.41. Johns was also fourth in the 100 freestyle (49.50) and fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:01.15).
Aaron Troyer scored a second-place finish in the 200 back with a time of 1:59.26. He also took fourth place in the 100-yard individual medley and fifht place in the 100 butterfly.
Adam Barnes finished fifth in the 100 IM (59.62).
Carter Adams picked up a pair of fourth-place finishes — the first in the 50-yard butterfly (24:53) followed by the 200 individual medley (2:02.32). Belford finished fifth in the 200 IM (2:04.43).
Josh Bleisch finished fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 28.82.
Matt Schramm added a fifth-place finish in the event by touching the wall in 29.80. Bleisch was also fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.41).
Dylan Miller took fifth in the 50-yard free (23.43).
Chris McGue finished fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:04.32).
Batchelder and Bleisch were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200-yard breaststroke. Batchelder finished in 2:18.74 while Bleisch's final time was 2:25.52.
Matt Fouts took fifth place in the 200 freestyle (1:54.24).
Joel Paquin, Arthure Granados, and McGue were creditted with first, second, and third place points from the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Wabash also scored first-place points in the 200-medely relay with the team of Barnes, Mike Nemeth, Chorpenning, and Granados finishing in 1:37.38. The Little Giant 200-yard freestyle relay team of Batchelder, Troyer, Johns, and McGue earned first place points by finishing with a time of 1:29.21.
The Little Giants travel to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Friday at 7 pm.
