For the second consecutive meet the Wabash swim team produced some of its best times of the season. The Little Giants competed against arch-rival DePauw Wednesday night, losing 196-84 at home.
Carter Adams won the men's 200-yard individual medley, one of two first-place finishes for the Little Giants. Adams won the event with a time of 2:01.66.
Jack Belford finished second with a time of 2:03.35.
Elliot Johns posted the other victory, winning the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:58.92.
Jake Childress took second place (2:00.56). Childress added another second in the 100-yard backstroke with another season-best time of 54.12. Johns added a season-best time with a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:47.31).
Adams added a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly (1:58.07) and a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time 53.14.
Jack Belford took third in the 1000 free with a time of 10:03.94, his quickest of the year.
Steve Batchelder's second-place time of 1:02.08 in the 100 breaststroke was also the fastest of the season. Batchelder took third in the 100 free (49.79) as well.
Josh Bleisch touched second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.70).
The Little Giants finished third in the 400 freestyle relay with a season-best time of 3:16.56 turned in by Johns, Batchelder,
Aaron Troyer, and
Chris McGue. Childress, Batchelder, Adams, and Troyer took second place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:38.53.
The squad will hit the water next weekend as Wabash serves as hosts for the annual Woehnker Invitational. The two-day meet begins with diving and the mile swim on Friday night.
