Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Game one box score | Game two box score

Sophomore pitcher JT Miller scattered eight hits while John Holm, Montana Timmons, and John Pennington combined for seven RBI to give Wabash a 10-1 victory at Huntingdon Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants lost in extra innings 7-5 to Capital on game one.

Miller went the distance in the nine-inning contest against Huntingdon (7-3), holding the Hawks to a single run in the fourth inning after Wabash had taken a 5-0 lead. After two singles, a sacrifice, and a fielder's choice groundout to score the lone Huntingdon run, Miller kept the home team scoreless over the final five innings. Miller finished the game with 10 strikeouts and no walks out of 34 batters faced to pick up his first career victory.

The Little Giants staked the sophomore to a five-run lead when Andrew Rodgers opened the third with a walk. Chris Deig laced a one-out single, followed by back-to-back fielding errors that scored the first run of the contest. Timmons riped a bases-loaded single to right field, scoring Deig and Robby Hechinger. An RBI single by Pennington brought John Holm plateward with the fourth run of the game. The final run came home off freshman Clint Scarborough's ground out to short, scoring Timmons.

Wabash tacked on a run in the sixth on an RBI single to right by Tanner Watson, scoring Scarborough after he reached base by being hit by a pitch. Pennington added an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the seventh to score Hechinger before the Little Giants' bats exploded for three more runs in the eighth. Deig started the inning with a one-out single, moving to third on Hechinger's single to right.

That brough Holm to the plate, who proceeded to cursh a ball over the fence for a three-run homer, his first of the season and Wabash-record 31st of his career.

Holm finished the game with two hits and three RBI with his three-run homer. Timmons collected two hits and two RBI, while Deig also had two hits. Pennington added two RBI with one hit, whlle Scarborough and Watson also had one RBI apiece.

Wabash took a 3-0 lea over Capital in game at Huntingdon thanks to a two-out walk by Hechinger to spark a rally. Holm singled up the middle, followed by a single by Timmons to load the bases. Pennington brought all three runners home with a double to right field before ending the inning try to stretch the hit into a triple.

The Crusaders would answer with run in the fourth, two more in the fifth, and another in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. Wabash tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single from Holm to score Tyler Hampton after the freshman led off the inning with a walk. Capital regained the lead, scoring a run in the top half of the eighth to move in front 5-4.

Trailing by a run in the ninth inning, The Little Giants rallied when Hampton picked up a lead-off walk. Another walk, this time by Watson, moved pinch-runner Eric Bryant to second. Deig sacrificed the runners 90 feet before a Hechinger groundout scored the lone run of the inning to tie the game at 5-5 and send the contest to extra innings. An RBI double and a run-scoring single by Capital in the 10th gave the Crusaders a two-run lead and the eventual victory.

Eric Foust took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits in one inning of work. Andrew Swart threw five innings as the starter, giving up two earned runs and four total on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Jeff Soller pitched four innings, allowing one unearned run with two hits and two walks. Wabash committed five errors in the game against Capital, helping the Crusaders to three of their seven total runs. The Little Giants also stranded eight baserunners.

Holm and Pennington each had two hits, while Pennington led the team with three RBI in the contest.
