Wabash overcame a sloppy start by pounding out 11 hits in an 11-6 home victory Tuesday afternoon over Trinity International University.

The Little Giants took the early lead in the first game Wabash Ballpark in 2012 when
Chris Deig reached in the opening inning with a walk, then moved to second on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt and was balked to third.
Montana Timmons scored Deig on a sacrifice fly to right.
The Trojans (2-8) answered with an unearned run in the second, scoring on a throwing error by the Little Giants on a play at the plate. Trinity International took the lead in the third with a walk, a sacrifice bunt, and a hit-and-run single through the left side.
Wabash took control from that point. The Little Giants posted a five-spot in the bottom of the third. Deig started the rally with a triple to left-center field, scoring on a single off the bat of
Tanner Watson. After moving to second on a wild pitch, Watson came home when Timmons singled to left to give Wabash the lead. Back-to-back singles by
Andrew Rodgers and
Tyler Hampton loaded the bases.
Tyler Owensby then walked to add another run to the scoreboard.
Ross Hendrickson brought a run home when his ground ball was mishandled by the shortstop to make it 5-2.
Robby Hechinger produced the final RBI of the inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-2 in the third.
Rodgers added another run in the fourth with an RBI triple to score Watson, who led off the inning with a single. After the Trojans added a run in the sixth and another in the seventh, Deig drilled a two-run homer to right in the bottom of the seventh. Hampton picked up an RBI double and Owensby added an RBI single in the eighth after Trinity International scored two runs in the top half of the inning to provide the final margin of victory.
Chris Widup worked six innings as the starter, giving up six hits and two earned runs with one walk and five strikeouts.
Andrew Swart added another two strikeouts to his career total in one inning on the mound . He gave up one earned run on two hits. Swart is currently fourth on the Wabash career strikeout list with 172, trailing Jon Horne '05 in third with 173 and Mark Maguire '00 in second with 175. Kelley House '90 owns the all-time strikeout record with 226.
JT Miller worked the eighth inning, surrendering two unearned runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Luke Zinsmaster closed out the ninth with one walk and two K's.
Rodgers collected three hits, including his second triple of the season. Deig,Watson, and Hampton each had two hits. Deig, Timmons, and Owensby had two RBI apiece.
Paul Grotelueschen finished with three hits to lead the Trojans' offense.
Wabash (6-6) returns to action Saturday with a home doubleheader against Blackburn College with the first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
