Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Game one - Wabash 8, Blackburn 2 (Box score)

Game two - Wabash 6, Blackburn 0 (Box score)

JT Miller handled Blackburn on the mound, while Montana Timmons, Andrew Rodgers, and Robby Hechinger took care of the offense in a pair of Wabash baseball victories Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants defeated the Beavers 8-2 in game one, then blanked Blackburn 6-0 in game two.

Miller fired a complete-game two-hitter to pick up his third victory of the season, dropping his season ERA to 1.48 in five appearances. He struck out a season-high 12 batters while walking only one batter with one wild pitch.

Timmons collected four RBI, including his first home run of the season in game two at Wabash Ballpark, while batting .556 for the day. Rodgers smacked his first career homer in game one, then added another long ball in the second contest with a total of three RBI for the day. Hechinger was 5-for-7 from the plate for a .714 average for the day and also added three RBI.

Andrew Swart picked up his second win of the season in game one, throwing six innings as the starter while allowing two unearned runs on five hits. He struck out four without giving up a walk, giving Swart 176 for his career to move him into second place on the Wabash all-time list. Swart's 18 career victories are tied wtih Brian Smith (1987-1990) for fourth in Little Giant history.

Wabash trailed Blackburn 2-0 in the first game after three innings before picking up a run on an RBI single by Hechinger in the fourth. Timmons blasted a solo homer in the fifth to tie the contest at 2-2 before the Little Giants exploded for six runs in the sixth. Hechinger started the rally with a single to left-center field, advancing to second on a sacrifice by Chris Deig. Clint Scarborough brought Hechinger home with the eventual game-winning run with a pinch-hit single to right. After a John Holm single, Timmons drilled an RBI double down the left field line to score the pinch-runner Eric Bryant. John Pennington added a sacrifice fly to score Holm, then Rodgers launched his first career home run to make it a 7-2 game. Doubles by Trey Fankhauser and Hechinger sandwiched a Tyler Hampton walk to provide the final run of the game.

Jeff Soller pitched the final inning for Wabash, retiring all three batters he faced.

Hechinger provided a sacrifice fly to scored Scarborough after the freshmen led off the second inning of game two with a walk. The Little Giants added two more runs in the third on RBI doubles off the bats of Holm and Timmons. Rodgers hit his second home run of the day in the seventh inning, while RBI singles by Watson and Timmons in the eighth produced the final runs of Saturday's finale.

Wabash (8-6) and Blackburn (3-10) will play a nine-inning contest on Sunday, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
