The Wabash College swimming team posted solid times in its initial competition of the 2013-2014 season at Denison despite a 198-156 head-to-head loss in the Big Red's home pool.

Zechariah Banks turned in the quickest time to win of the meet to win the 200 breaststroke at 2:12.28. He also captured third place in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 27.62, which would have been good enough to break the old Denison pool record. Banks finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.25).

Jake Childress set the Trumbull Aquatic Center record last year in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 25.09. He was just a tick shy of that mark this year, finishing in 25.21 to take second place behind Denison's Sean Chabot with a time of 24.46. Josh McCabe added a fifth-place finish, touching the wall in 26.33. Childress also scored a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly by posting a time of 55.11.

Elliot Johns posted the second-quickest time in the 200 free (1:46.37). He also scored a fifth-place finish in the 50 free (22.07) and a sixth in the 100 free (49.82).

Carter Adams took third place in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24:04 along with a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly (53.17). He also scored a fourth-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.73. Jack Belford finished third in the 100-yard (57.20) and 200-yard (2:03.39) individual medley races.

Joel Paquin grabbed third place in the 500 free by finishing in 5:01.62. He also took fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.54. Childress also scored first-place points in the 200 backstroke, posting the fourth-quickest time of 2:04.63 against Denison's exhibition swimmers.

The Little Giants return to action Saturday, October 26 at the Purdue Intercollegiates.
