Freshman pitcher Josh Piercy picked up a win in his first career start for Wabash, throwing five innings of five-hit baseball. The rookie was perfect through the first eight batters before surrendering a walk in the bottom of the third inning to Vernon Trice of Oglethorpe (1-8). Piercy then promptly picked Price off at first to end the inning.
The Stormy Petrels finally got to Piercy in the fifth with run on a sacrice fly, followed by three more runs in the sixth before
Austin Hawn came on in relief. Hawn held Oglethorpe to one run on four hits in 1-1/3 innings with a walk and strikeout. Piercy gave up four runs in five-plus innings of work, striking out six with two walks.
First-year pitcher
Nelson Novack closed out the final 2-2/3 scoreless innings for the Little Giants, picking up his first career save by allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out batters.
While the Wabash pitching staff held Oglethorpe in check in game one, the offense produced nine runs on 17 hits.
Robby Hechinger led the way with four hits in five trips to the plate.

Luke Holm picked up his second career victory and first of the season as the starting pitcher in game two for the Little Giants. The junior right-hander scattered five hits over five innings to go with four walks and six strikeouts. Wabash took a 1-0 lead before Oglethrope answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to give the Stormy Petrels their first lead of the night. The Little Giants responded with a seven-run third inning, Timmons started the scoring with an RBI single to center, followed by a ground ball by
Tyler Owensby that scored a run and three-run double by freshman
David Oliger to drive home three runs for his first career RBI. Watson added a RBI with a single in the inning to give Wabash the lead for good on the way to the 10-4 victory.
Holm surrendered two more runs in the fifth for a total of four, with only three earned, in five innings on the mound.
