Box Score The Little Giants waited 45 minutes to start Tuesday's baseball game at Butler, then rode out a 28-minute rain delay in a 10-2 loss.
Tyler Owensby provided one of two runs for Wabash with an RBI double in the fifth inning.
After surrendering seven runs in the first two innings, Wabash stayed even with the NCAA Division I Bulldogs team (18-18). Two early errors haunted Wabash starter
Nelson Novack. The freshman allowed seven runs (five earned) on eight hits with two strikeouts. Novack six of the final seven hitters he faced in the third and fourth innings.
Austin Hawn gave up two runs on four hits and a walk in two innings of relief.
Christian Vukas, who started as the designated hitter, closed out the final two innings. He gave up two hits and two walks while allowing one run to score.
The Little Giants collected eight hits in the contest with Vukas,
Tyler Hampton, and
Lucas Stippler accounted for two apiece. Hampton singled to open the fifth inning, moving to second on a one-out single by Vukas. Owensby followed with a drive to right-center to score Hampton. Vukas moved to third, scoring one batter later on a ground out by Stippler.
Wabash (13-19) is off for the remainder of the week before closing out North Coast Athletic Conference West Division play Saturday and Sunday with a four-game series at Ohio Wesleyan University.
