Tyler Owensby combined with a dominating effort by starting pitcher
Ross Hendrickson gave Wabash a 12-7 victory at Centre College Thursday night.
 Wabash blew the 4-2 game open in the sixth with a six-run inning.
Tanner Watson and
Tyler Hampton drilled back-to-back two-run singles. Watson drove home
Justin Green and Lucas Stipler, while Watson and
Trey Fankhauser raced home on Hampton's hit.
Owensby delivered the big blow in the inning, tripling off the left field wall for his second RBI of the game when Hampton scored from second. After a walk to
David Oliger,
KJ Zelenika lifted a sacrifice fly to right to score Owensby with the sixth run of the inning.
Hendrickson gave the Little Giants six solid innings in his second start and first win since returning from "Tommy John" surgery. The senior pitched five innings, holding Centre to a pair of hits and two runs with three strikeouts without allowing a walk. Hendrickson retired the last 10 batters he faced.
The Colonels (4-9) took a 2-0 lead in the second, but Wabash tied the score with a pair of runs in the fourth. Oliger drove home one run after singles by
Clint Scarborough and Owensby.Â
Justin Green tied the game with a sacrifice fly to bring Owensby home.
The Little Giants took the lead for good with two more runs in the fifth in a prelude to the six-run sixth. Owensby picked up his first RBI of the game with a hard-hit single to right. Oliger added his first RBI of the night to put Wabash up 4-2.
Wabash added two more runs in the seventh. Centre scored a run in the eighth and two in the ninth to provide the final tally.
In addition to Owensby's four-hit, four-RBI effort, Watson, Hampton, and Oliger each finished with two RBI. Scarborough finished with two hits, while Fankhauser, Watson, Hamtpon, Oliger, Green, and
Lucas Stippler recorded one hit a piece.
Wabash (4-4) opens play at Goodrich Ballpark Saturday at 10 a.m. against Loras College.
