Wabash split a split doubleheader Tuesday in Florida. The Little Giants lost 8-3 to undefeated Heidelberg in the afternoon before pounding out 16 hits in a 12-3 win over Muskingum.

Wabash got great pitching to match its offensive output in the Tuesday night victory. Freshman
Bryan Roberts pitched six strong innings to earn his first career victory. He scattered 10 hits and allowed three earned runs. Fellow first-year pitchers
Fisher Hennig and
William Kelly combined to allow just one hit over the final three innings. Hennig struck out two batters in two innings. Kelly gave up the lone hit in the ninth while also striking out one Muskies batter.

Wabash exploded for four runs in the third inning. Freshman
Austin Ellingwood drilled a double down the left field line, then raced home on a triple to right field by
Tanner Watson.
Lucas Stippler followed with a bunt single, then stole second. Red-hot
Tyler Hampton collected the first of his three hits in the game by lacing a double to left to score Watson and Stippler. One batter later Hampton scored on a double off the bat of
Clint Scarborough for a 4-0 Wabash lead.

Muskingum (2-2) answered with a pair of runs in the third and one more in the fourth before the Little Giants broke the game open in the fifth and sixth innings. Wabash plated two in the fifth off a two-run double by Scarborough that drove home Hampton and
David Oliger. Oliger produced an RBI single in the sixth ahead of a sacrifice fly by
Tyler Owensby. Hampton drove home the final run of the inning with his second double of the game.

Wabash tacked on three more in the ninth with an RBI single by Ellingwood, a bases-loaded walk to Stippler, and fielder's choice from Oliger.

Hampton and freshman
Cole Harlacher each finished with three hits, with Harlacher going 3-for-5 with a run scored in his Wabash debut. Watson, Oliger, Scarborough, and Ellingwood bashed two hits apiece. Hampton and Scarborough each banged out three RBI in the win.

Wabash took an early 2-0 lead versus Heidelberg in game one. Owensby produced the first run with his RBI single to center.
Justin Green drove a ball through the right side to score the second run for Wabash.

Starter
Jensen Kirch cruised through the first three innings, but got into trouble in the fourth when Heidelberg scored four runs on four hits eventually taking the loss in the game.
Matt Bowman silenced the Student Princes' bats by allowing just one hit in 2-1/3 innings of relief. Freshman
Alex Dickey made his Wabash debut. He gave up four runs (three earned) in two innings of work.
Cody Cochran held Heidelberg scoreless in the ninth.

Wabash drew as close as one run by picking up a run in the fifth inning.
Taylor Canter ripped a double to left center to start the inning in his first game as a Little Giant. He came home to score on a single by Stippler to cut the score to 4-3 before Heidelberg scored a run in the seventh on a solo homer and three more in the eighth.

The Little Giants managed 11 hits in the losing effort. Stippler, Oliger, Green, and
KJ Zelenika eached finished with two hits to pace Wabash. Oliver, Green, and Zelenika knocked in two runs apiece.

Wabash (2-2) returns to action with another doubleheader Wednesday. The Little Giants play 16
th-ranked Marietta at 9 a.m. at before facing 17
th-ranked Baldwin Wallace at 3:30 p.m.
