Baseball Falls In NCAC Doubleheader at Denison

Wabash suffered a pair of tough-luck losses Sunday at Denison in North Coast Athletic Conference baseball action. The Little Giants fell 1-0 in game one before dropping game two 6-2.
 
Jensen Kirch held Denison to four hits, but a pair of errors in the eighth inning of game provided the only run of the game for the Big Red. Kirch (2-5) struck out five and walked three in the complete game loss.
 
Lucas Stippler, David Oliger, and Cole Harlacher scratched out the only hits in the game for the Little Giants.
 
Wabash took a 1-0 lead in game two off an RBI double by Clint Scarborough that scored Tanner Watson in the first inning. The Big Red responded with a three-run effort off Wabash pitcher Josh Piercey (0-2), who surrendered five runs on five hits over three innings. Denison (15-16, 8-6 NCAC West) scored a pair of runs in the third and one more in the fifth before a sacrifice fly by Oliger in the seventh scored Stippler for the final run of the game.
 
Scarborough and Watson each finished with two of the Little Giants' nine hits in the game.
 
The two teams meet to complete the four-game series Monday at noon. Wabash (12-21, 4-10 NCAC West) is battling for fourth place and a chance to earn a chance to play for a spot in the upcoming NCAC tournament.
