An early led fell by the wayside in the Wabash lacrosse team's 14-9 home loss to Hiram Saturday at Mud Hollow Stadium.
Dajon Thomas and
Zach Darabaris provided an early 2-0 lead for the Little Gaints in their North Coast Athletic Conference matchup. Thomas opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the season for a 1-0 Wabash lead. Darabaris added his fourth of the year less than a minute later.
Zach Scarano answered a Hiram goal with his ninth goal for a 3-1 edge for the Little Giants.
A goal by
Corey Hoffman was sandwiched by a pair of Hiram goals to make the score 4-3 in favor of Wabash. Hiram outscored the Little Giants 11-5 over the final three periods to earn the victory.
Scarano finished with three goals to pace the Wabash offense. Thomas and Hoffman each finished with a pair of goals. Darabaris and
Adrian Tejeda accounted for the remaining scores. Goalkeeper
Todd Hoogland turned away 23 shots by Hiram (3-7, 1-4 NCAC) in the contest.
Wabash (1-8, 0-4) travels to face nationally-ranked Ohio Wesleyan Wednesday before returning home to play Oberlin Saturday.
