Scarano Scores Twelfth in Loss at Fourth-Ranked OWU

Zach Scarano netted his team-leading 12th goal of the season Wednesday, providing the only point for the Wabash lacrosse team in a 25-1 loss at undefeated, fourth-ranked Ohio Wesleyan.

Scarano scored after Scott Purucker scooped a ground ball in the Little Giants' defense end. Wabash cleared to the opposite end of the field before Scarano fired one of his two shot attempts in the contest into the net.

Wabash took five shots overall in the North Coast Athletic Conference meeting. Ohio Wesleyan (11-0, 5-0 NCAC) scored eight goals in each of the first three periods before notching a final tally in the last 15 minutes of the match.

Todd Hoogland recorded 19 saves in the game. Glenn Patterson, Caleb Neal, and Purucker each tallied shots for Wabash (1-9, 0-5 NCAC) against the Battling Bishops, who entered the day ranked fourth in both the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III and Lacrosse Magazine polls.

Wabash returns to Mud Hollow Stadium Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against Oberlin College.
