Wabash Wins Seventh Straight With 2-0 Victory at Hanover

Freshman Nikola Kajmakoski tallied a pair of goals Friday night to give Wabash soccer a 2-0 victory at Hanover College.

The Little Giants improve to 7-0 with the victory. Last season Wabash played 12 consecutive games without suffering a loss, but opened the season with five consecutive victories before notching a pair of ties. This year's Wabash team set a new school record with its seventh straight win to open the season and are two victories shy of tying the 1986 team's record of nine consecutive victories in a season.

Kajmakoski scored his second goal of the season in the 13th minute. Mike Gore slipped a pass to the rookie, who beat the Hanover (2-4) goalkeeper on a one-on-one attempt. A foul by the host Panthers in the 31st minute put Kajmakoski over the ball with a direct free kick, which he converted for the insurance goal.

"We got some good play from Mike Gore and Kajmakoski to create a couple of opportunities and score the first goal," Wabash head coach Chris Keller said. "Gore took off on a breakaway and was taken down with a foul. Kajmakoski put away the free kick for his second goal."

Dayton Jennings turned aside four shots on goal by the Panthers. The offenses were evenly matched as Wabash fired six shots on goal to account for its two goals. Jennings earned his fourth shutout of the season. He set a school record with eight saves last season.

"Dayton did another tremendous job in goal," Keller said. "He came up huge on a couple of shots and kept the ball out of the goal."

Wabash will play its third game in five days Sunday with a 1 p.m. home contest against Mount St. Joseph University
