Wabash Locks Up Tourney Berth Despite 1-0 Loss To Kenyon

Wabash and Kenyon met at Fischer Field to determine the number-one seed for next week's North Coast Athletic Men's Soccer Conference Tournament. A goal in the 72nd minute gave the visiting Lords the 1-0 victory to spoil the Little Giants' Senior Day celebration.

Wabash honored seniors Geno James, Dayton Jennings, Riley Pelton, and Rodrigo Porras prior to the start of the home match.

Wabash had already secured a berth in the tourney for the just the second time since joining the league in 1999 by virtue of the 19 points earned by the Little Giants in conference games this season. A victory would secure a home field advantage in the tournament as the top seed. Kenyon came into the game with a total of 21 points as the top team in the NCAC.

Kenyon played aggressive offense throughout the first half, firing eight total shots compared to one for Wabash. Jennings made a pair of saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the match tied at 0-0.

The 13th-ranked Lords scored what proved to be the game-winning score on a header from Henry Myers off a pass by Dalton Eudy. Myers finished with four of the 14 shots for Kenyon (15-2-0, 8-1-0 NCAC) and three of the Lords' four shots on goal. Wabash fired five total shots in the match with Nikola Kajmakoski putting the only shot on net for the Little Giants.

Wabash (11-5-2, 6-2-1) will travel to Oberlin College for the first round of the NCAC Tournament to be played Wednesday. The third-seeded Little Giants play second-seeded Oberlin at 7 p.m.
