Record-Setting Day For Wabash Lacrosse in Win at Dallas

Wabash scored a single-game record for goals in the lacrosse team's 16-6 victory at the University of Dallas Sunday afternoon.

The Little Giants scored 16 goals in 42 shots on goal. Steven Stark set a record with six goals. Collin Brennan added five scores, while Colin Corcoran found the net twice.

Wabash jumped out to a 3-0 lead versus the Crusaders (1-5) on a goal from Corcoran in the second minute of play. Brennan tallied the first of his five goals 18 seconds later off a pass from Corcoran to go up 2-0. Stark collected a pass from Tucker Dixon for his first goal of the game while giving Dixon his second assist for the day.

Peter Early picked up the first of his team-high four goals to trim the Wabash lead to 3-1. Stark and Early traded goals before John Rodgers and Corcoran each scored to produce a 6-2 first period lead.

The Little Giants continued the offensive onslaught, scoring five consecutive goals in the second period --- a pair from both Stark and Brennan and a tally from Joe Hapak --- to take an 11-2 advantage into halftime.

Goals from Stark (2), Brennan (2), and Billy Bernhardt closed out the scoring for Wabash.

Samuel Stewart picked up his first win in goal, making six saves in 60 minutes of work.

Wabash outshot the Crusaders 57-23. The Little Giants limited their turnovers to 18 for the game and caused 13 Dallas miscues. Wabash won 19-of-25 faceoffs and scooped up 45 groundballs. Scott Purucker and Spencer Sikes each recorded six ground balls to lead the team.

The Little Giants (1-2) play Oglethorpe University Wednesday at 1 p.m. (CST) in Dallas  before returning to Wabash for a 4 p.m. home contest on Saturday.
