Winning Streak Goes To Four With1-0 Soccer Win at Allegheny

A second-half goal by Spase Dorsuleski and five saves by goalkeeper Dayton Jennings extended the Wabash soccer team's winning streak to four games with a 1-0 win at Allegheny to open North Coast Athletic Conference play Saturday.

Alexiz Arellano delivered a free kick restart into the box in the 59th minute that Dorsuleski deposited into the net with a leaping header for his third goal of the year and second game winner in ten days.

Jennings faced 12 total shots from Allegheny (2-5-1, 0-1-0 NCAC). He turned aside all five shots on goal to record his second complete game shutout of the season and 20th of his career. Jennings became the fifth Wabash player in school history to record 200 or more career saves, making his 202nd stop on the final save of the match.

We got a great defensive effort today," Wabash head coach Chris Keller said. "Dayton played great and he got excellent support from the back four throughout the match."

The Little Giants fired 14 shots overall with five ending up on goal. Bayden Lee, Cory Sims, Riley Pelton, and Mike Gore all has shots on goal in the contest in addition to Dorsuleski's header.

"We got a great results on a long road trip today," Keller said. "It's not easy to travel eight hours to play a tough opponent like Allegheny. They're big, physical, strong, and well coached. So it was great to go in and get three points in conference play for the win. It was one of those ugly conference games where you just have to find a way to get the win."

Wabash (5-3-1, 1-0-0 NCAC) plays its final non-conference contest on the road Tuesday at Mount St. Joseph University at 7:30 p.m. before returning to NCAC action Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University for a 7 p.m. start.
