Four-Goal Output Leads To Fifth Straight Win For Wabash

Wabash scored four goals in the second half of Tuesday night's match at Mount St. Joseph University to score a 4-1 win for the Little Giants' fifth consecutive victory.

Both teams combined for 11 shots and four shots on goal over the first 45 minutes. Wabash goalkeeper Dayton Jennings kept a blank sheet, as did his counterpart Will Schwing from MSJ.

Max Rowley broke the scoreless tie four minutes into the second half after snaring a pass from Geno James to notch his second goal of the season. Four minutes later, Mount St. Joseph (5-2-1) evened the score off a goal by Alex Gross.

Wabash took the lead for good when Jacques Boulais scored the first of his two goals in the 73rd minute, with James providing his second assist of the night. Boulais provided a two-goal advantage eight minutes later, collecting a loose ball off a Wabash corner kick.

Mike Gore provided the final goal. He scored his first goal of the season off a pass from Francisco Trejo in the 85th minute.

"It was a very hard-fought game; good soccer from both sides," Wabash head coach Chris Keller said. "I'm proud of the guys and the way we came out and scored early in the second half and then fought back when it was a 1-1 match. We had to switch parts off the bench. Jacques Boulais and Abdoulie both had great games in particular. Really it was just a great effort from the entire team. It's good to have the depth we've shown and be able to adjust to the different styles of guys and have those all mesh."

Wabash finished with 15 total shots and eight shots on goal. Jennings recorded three saves.

"It's a good win going forward. We came out on top with some good goals. Now we get ready for our trip to Ohio Wesleyan University this weekend. This will probably be our toughest game of the season to this point."

Wabash (6-3-1) travels to OWU for a 7 p.m. match Saturday as the Little Giants return to action in the North Coast Athletic Conference portion of their schedule.
