Owen Doster won the 133-pound weight class title at the 2017 Concordia University Open. The sophomore was one of ten Wabash wrestlers to claim a top-eight finishes at the tournament.

Doster quickly moved into the quarterfinals of the bracket with a bye and medical forfeit before pinning Noah Hughes-Reilly from Loras just 1:26 into their bout. Doster scored a technical fall in the semifinal round by a score of 20-5 against Wartburg's Brenden Baker prior to a 12-7 decision in the championship event versus Anthony Munoz from Elmhurst College.

Chris Diaz added an eighth-place finish at 133 pounds with a pair of wins. He pinned Jordan Carsen from Harper College at the 1:41 mark of their second-round match. He added a 7-1 win by decision versus Khalil Johnson from Triton in the fourth round of the consolation bracket.

Kyle Hatch picked up a second-place finish in the 157-pound weight class. He picked up an early win with a pin of Egan Berta from North Central 2:20 into their match. He added a 9-0 major decision against Isaiah from UW-Whitewater in the quarterfinal round, then advanced to the championship round with a 14-5 major decision versus Steve Bonsall from the University of Chicago. Hatch faced Logan Thomsen from Wartburg in the finals, battling the entire match before losing 4-1 for a second-place finish.

Austin Bethel placed third in the 149-pound bracket for Wabash. He opened the tournament with a pin of John Prieto of Elmhurst 51 seconds into their match. Bethel scored an 8-2 win against Ben Williamson from North Central, then advanced to the semifinal round with a 15-0 technical fall versus Frank Yattoni from UW-Parkside. A loss in the semis sent Bethel to the third-place match where he received a medical forfeit.

Kaleb Guzior placed fifth at 125 pounds for the Little Giants. The freshman scored four victories including a consolation round win against Cisco Farr with a pin at 5:44 of their bout, followed by a 5-2 decision versus Ian Mulen. Guzior scored a major decision over Josh Olsen from Wisconsin-Parkside's Josh Olsen in the second round of the tournament.

Griffin Schermer placed sixth in the 149-pound weight class with a pair of early-round wins. He defeated Subhan Umar from UW-Parkside 9-3, then pinned Elmhurst's Austin Maher before losing a tight 4-1 decision in the quarterfinal round. Schermer picked up a pin against Prieto at 6:52 in the consolation round but lost 15-4 in the finals for the sixth-place finish.

Grant Gough placed sixth at 197 pounds. After a tough 3-1 loss in his opening bout of the weight class, Gough rallied for three consecutive wins in the consolation portion of the bracket. He started with a 14-4 major decision versus Max Jordan, then scored a 4-3 win against Joseph Scheidt from the University of Chicago. A 6-3 victory against Mark Miller from Elmhurst propelled Gough into the fifth-place match versus Riley Kauzlaric of UW-Whitewater. A pin at the 2:02 ended the day for Gough for sixth place in the bracket.

Darden Schurg was credited with eighth place at 174 pounds. He finished with five wins in the weight class, starting with a pin of Delmontae Davis from Dubuque in the preliminary round of bracket. Schurg scored another pin in first full round of action, putting Demetrius Smith from the Milwaukee School of Engineering on the mat 2:31 into their bout. A loss in the second full championship round dropped Schurg to the consolation bracket where he won by pin at 1:11 over Sal Schiro prior to technical falls against Alex Montbriand from Concordia (23-7) and Nate Mlodzik from UW-Whitewater (17-1). The remainder of the bracket was not completed, creating a three-way tie for eighth place in weight class standings.

Wade Ripple were both scored in eighth place in the 285-pound bracket. Bishop posted wins over Nick Hogan from Wartburg (8-1), Adam Rizk of Chicago (11-0 major decision), Jon Czemek of North Central (7-1), and Christopher Colvin from Triton (10-4). Ripple earned victories against Karim Fuentes from Elmhurst (5-0), Samuel Olsen of Concordia (fall at 3:54), and Patrick Mulkerin from Chicago (fall at 2:14).
