The Wabash College wrestling team earned national academic recognition from the National Wrestling Coaches Association as a 2026 Scholar All-America Team, while five Little Giants — James Day, Andrew Punzalan, Andrew Ross, Michael Taheny, and Titus Waters — captured individual Scholar All-America honors.
Wabash posted a 3.5879 team grade-point average to rank 29th nationally among NCAA Division III programs recognized by the NWCA. The Scholar All-America Team honors reflect excellence in the classroom across an entire program, recognizing teams that maintain high cumulative GPAs while competing at a national level throughout the season.
Wabash's placement among the nation's top 30 programs underscores the continued emphasis on academic success within the Little Giants wrestling program, pairing national-level competition results with sustained classroom performance.
Senior James Day, a biology major, headlined the group after a standout season on the mat that included a runner-up finish at the NCAA Division III Championships. He was joined by senior Andrew Ross (economics), junior Andrew Punzalan (economics), junior Titus Waters (economics) -- a 2026 All-American at the national tournament --- and freshman Michael Taheny (general education), each earning Scholar All-America recognition.
The NWCA honored a total of 473 student-athletes from 105 institutions across Division III for their academic accomplishments during the 2025-26 season. The awards follow the conclusion of the NCAA Division III Championships, where Wartburg College captured the national title with 110 points.
"These student-athletes have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom," NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer said in the organization's release. "We commend their dedication and the example they set for the sport."
