Four Wabash basketball players scored in double figures to lead the Little Giants to a 62-58 home victory over the University of Chicago in the first of back-to-back home non-conference games to close out the 2017 portion of its schedule.

Jack Davidson led Wabash (4-6) with 16 points with 12 coming in the second half after the Little Giants led 28-23 at halftime. Fellow first-year player
Connor Rotterman scored 11 points coming off the bench, while starters
Logan White and
Harrison Hallstrom each finished with 10 points.

Chicago (4-6) took an early 3-0 lead before the Little Giants responded with back-to-back baskets for a 4-3 lead they would only relinquish once on a layup by the Maroons' Ryan Jacobsen. Wabash answered with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to move in front 14-5. Chicago closed to three points in the first half before the Little Giants moved back in front by seven before closing the period with a 28-23 advantage at the break.

Wabash expanded the lead to 11 points, its largest of the game, with 10:17 remaining in the contest before Chicago mounted a rally. The Maroons closed to with a point over the next six minutes but missed the second of two free throws for a chance to tie the game in a 52-51 contest with 4:38 left.
Dalton Vachon provided his lone basket of the game to begin a 6-2 run over the next four minutes to push the score to 60-53 with 18 seconds remaining in the game. Hallstrom and
Colten Garland finished the game with four free throws to help Wabash hold on down the stretch for the victory.

The Little Giants shot 21-of-57 from the field (44 percent) and 5-of-19 from three-point range (28.6 percent). Chicago finished 20-of-56 from the field (39.3 percent) and hit 7-of-26 three-point attempts (23.1 percent). The Little Giants connected on 15-of-21 free throws while Chicago finished 11-of-18 from the line. Both teams snared 42 rebounds. Wabash committed 10 turnovers while forcing 11 turnovers by the Maroons.

Wabash held a lead in the game for 34:50 minutes compared to 3:49 for Chicago.

Collin Barthel led Chicago with 16 points. Noah Karras came off the bench to score 13 points for the Maroons.
