Wabash capitalized on its victory Sunday night by completing the spring break series sweep over Bethany Lutheran College with a 7-4 win Monday morning.
Junior pitcher
Bryan Roberts led the way for the Little Giants, throwing 7.2 strong innings. Junior outfielder
Taylor Canter went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI at the plate.
Roberts set the tone early for the early for the Little Giants. He utilized his off-speed pitches to scatter six hits for three runs (two earned), and struck out 3 batters. Roberts induced four double plays that allowed the Little Giants to escape from pivotal jams throughout the game. Junior
Cody Cochran pitched the final 1.1 innings of the game, gave up two hits and allowed one earned run to earn the save. The Little Giants also played much cleaner defense Monday, committing only one error in the contest.
Wabash continued the offensive momentum built up late in the game Sunday night. Included in Canter's 4-for-5 day is one double and one stolen base. The Little Giants put a lot of pressure on Bethany Lutheran throughout the game, strategically bunting to move runners station to station, as well as adding a few bunts for hits. Sophomore
Jared Wolfe had two hits in four at bats, drove in a run, and had one stolen base. Fellow sophomore
Sean Roginski continued his offensive streak as he tallied two hits in five at bats.
Wabash improved to 3-3 with the back-to-back wins over Bethany Lutheran (0-3). The Little Giants continue their Spring Break trip in Tucson Tuesday against Simpson College at 12:30 p.m. MST.
