Wabash saw opportunities in both games of its North Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Crossover Series doubleheader Sunday at Oberlin, only to suffer a pair of loss at the hands of the Yeomen. Wabash lost game one 1-0 before taking a 10-4 loss in the second contest.

Jensen Kirch held Oberlin (22-17, 12-6 NCAC) scoreless through seven innings in his final career start in game one. The Yeomen scratched out a run in the eighth on a ground ball out by Brendan Mapes with the bases loaded with two outs for the one-run lead. The Little Giants put runners on first and third with one out in the ninth on a one-out single by
Tyler Downing and a base hit to right off the bat of
Henry Wannemuehler. But a line drive was snared by Oberlin's second baseman for a game-ending double play.

Kirch fell to 4-4 for the year with the complete-game loss. He scattered five hits while striking out five batters. He allowed the one earned run along with three walks. Wabash collected eight hits in the game, led by Downing, Wannemuehler, and
Sean Roginski. The Little Giants were unable to capitalize on combination of eight hits, two walks, and three errors committed by Oberlin.

Game two remained in doubt until a five-run eighth inning by the Yeomen. Wabash took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Jared Wolfe started the game with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. He took third on a single from
Sean Roginski. Both came around to score on a double by
Bryce Aldridge. Oberlin answered with a run in the third before tying the game in the fourth inning. The Yeomen took a 4-2 lead in the sixth.

The Little Giants answered with a two-run seventh to even the score at 4-4.
Nick Chao started the rally with a two-out single. Wolfe smashed a triple to right-center to score Chao, then raced home on a single by
Eric Chavez to tie the score.

The Yeomen regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the seventh, then exploded for five runs in the eighth to claim the 10-4 victory.

Wolfe, Roginski, and Downing each finished with two hits for Wabash in game two. The Little Giants finished with nine total hits in the game.

Bryan Roberts pitched four innings in his last start this season, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned) with a walk and two strikeouts.
Luke Dant pitched an inning of one-hit scoreless relief.
Cody Cochran surrendered three hits, two runs, and two walks.
Cameron Glaze (1-2) took the loss in relief after pitching one inning, giving up one run on two hits.
Kevin O'Donnell gave up three runs on one hit and two walks in a third-of-an-inning of work.
Ryan Thomas closed out the game for the Little Giants, allowing two runs, three hits, and one walk along with a strikeout in 2/3 of an inning on the mound.

Wabash (21-16, 6-10 NCAC) will complete the three-game series against the Yeomen and the 2017 season Monday with the first pitch at Oberlin set for 11 a.m.
