The Wabash lacrosse team dropped an 11-7 decision at William Peace University Wednesday evening to complete its spring break trip in preparation for the start of play in the North Coast Athletic Conference Sunday.
The Little Giants (1-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from
Tucker Dixon in the opening five minutes of the game. William Peace (2-4) answered with two goals to tie the game heading into the second period.
Wabash took another lead when
AJ Shaheen scored off an assist from
Collin Brennan. The Pacers notched five consecutive goals prior to the half, including two in the final minute of play in man-up situations for a 7-3 lead at the break.
Dixon tallied two more goals in the third period to match a pair of goals from William Peace.
Steven Stark added a man-advantage goal to cut the Pacers' lead to three goals, but Wabash could draw no closer. The hosts tacked on two goals in the fourth period before
Jake Taylor's final goal of the game for the four-point win for William Peace.
Dixon added an assist with his four goals for a total of five points for the Little Giants. Brennan handed out three assists and collected four ground balls. Taylor finished with a goal and an assist.
Zach Hogan had a helper on the first Dixon goal of the game.
Ben Geier led the team with six ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Max Atkins made six saves in goal in the loss.
Wabash travels to Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio to complete its week-long road trip with the conference opener against the Lords Sunday at 1 p.m.
