Wabash completed its schedule of four tennis matches in five days with a 6-3 victory Sunday afternoon over Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Little Giants improved to 12-10 for the season with one regular season match remaining next weekend against the College of Wooster (April 21). The victory over OWU (14-7, 2-2 NCAC West) gave Wabash a 2-2 record against North Coast Athletic Conference West Division teams.Â
Wabash opened Sunday's match with wins in all three doubles matches. The number one doubles team of
William Reifeis and
Patrick McAuley improved to 22-0 on the season after scoring an 8-4 win over OWU.
Jordan Greenwell and
Andrew Denning combined for an 8-1 win at number two doubles. The third doubles flight of
Nicholas Pollock and
Kirill Ivashchenko scored an 8-2 win to put the Little Giants up 3-0 heading into singles play.
Reifeis picked up a win in straight sets at number one singles by a score of 6-2, 6-2. McAuley secured the victory for the team with his win at number two singles, 7-6 (5), 6-3. Ivashchenko added a 6-2, 7-6 (1) win at number four singles for the final team point.Â
Wabash finishes the regular season against Wooster before competing in the conference tournament in Indianapolis April 27-29.
