Wabash picked up win in all six singles matches to complete the 2018 spring portion of its regular season with an 8-1 victory at the College of Wooster Saturday afternoon.
The Little Giants (13-10) opened the contest with
William Reifeis and
Patrick McAuley closing out the regular season undefeated at number one doubles. The duo were tested by the Scots' (8-11) number one doubles team of Titas Bera and Jesse DeWItt, taking the Wabash duo to an extra game before Reifeis and McAuley notched the 9-7 victory to improve to 23-0.
Nicholas Pollock and
Kirill Ivashchenko combined for an 8-4 win at number three doubles to give Wabash a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
Reifeis won his number one singles match after Bera was forced to retire. McAuley won 7-5 (5), 7-6 (2) at number two singles.
Jordan Greenwell scored a 6-2, 6-3 straight-sets win in the third singles flight. Ivashchenko battled through three sets for a 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 victory at number four singles. Pollock also won in three sets at number five singles by scores of 6-4 2-6, 6-3.
George Go III earned the final single victory with a straight-sets win 6-3, 6-2 in the sixth flight.
Wabash will serve as co-host with DePauw University for the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships. The event will be held at the Barbara Wynn Tennis Center at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana April 27-29.
