Wabash held a five-goal lead entering the fourth quarter before Hiram erupted for eight scores in the final 15 minutes to snatch a 17-16 win from the Little Giants in North Coast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action.

Wabash (2-9, 0-4 NCAC) maintained its lead throughout the final period until the final minute when the host Terriers (6-5, 1-4 NCAC) scored a goal to even the score at 16-16, then regained the lead with 39 seconds left in regulation to claim the victory. The Little Giants got a final shot on goal in the closing seconds down a man after a penalty but could not find the back of the net in an attempt to send the game to overtime.

Hiram took the early lead in the contest, scoring its first goal in the first 38 seconds of the contest. The Little Giants responded with four consecutive goals from
Tucker Dixon,
Austin Crosley,
AJ Shaheen, and
Collin Brennan to move in front 4-1. Hiram rallied for two goals in the final three minutes of the first to cut the Little Giants' lead to 4-3.

A five-goal second period lifted Wabash to its lead. Dixon notched his second of a team-high six goals, followed by back-to-back goals from Brennan to sandwich a score from Hiram to make the score 7-4 in favor of the Little Giants. Two more goals by Dixon and another from Shaheen pushed the Wabash advantage to 9-4 at halftime.

Dixon scored again to lift Wabash to a 10-4 advantage in the first minute of the second half. Hiram answered with a goal of its own, but
Steven Stark regained the six-goal lead for the Little Giants with a score off a pass from Shaheen for an 11-5 edge. After two more goals by the Terriers, Dixon pushed the lead back to six with his final two goals of the game. The Terriers cut the lead to 13-9 with two minutes left in the third period before Shaheen added an unassisted goal in the final minute of the period for Wabash.

Hiram scored two goals to begin the fourth period, but once again Wabash answered with a pair of goals from
Jake Taylor to give the Little Giants a 16-11 lead with 3:14 remaining in regulation. That's when Hiram erupted for six goals in the final 3:04 of the game to claim the victory.

The Terriers outshot Wabash 44-40 for the game.
Max Atkins made 15 saves and forced a team-high three turnovers for the Little Giants on defense. Dixon led Wabash with 11 shot attempts and eight shots on goal.
Chase Cochran grabbed six ground balls for Wabash. The Little Giants committed 18 turnovers while Hiram was charged with 23 turnovers. The Terriers were led by Tim Stucky with six goals.

Wabash will return home to try and regroup from the heartbreaking loss when it plays Ohio Wesleyan Wednesday, April 11 at 4 p.m. at Fischer Field.
