Tanchevski Sends Wabash To 1-1 Tie Versus Seventh-Ranked Kenyon

Wabash rallied in the closing minute of regulation to tie seventh-ranked Kenyon at 1-1 and send Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference match into overtime. The two teams played two scoreless OT periods to conclude with a 1-1 draw.
 
The Little Giants (8-4-2, 3-1-1 NCAC) trailed 1-0 after Kenyon (11-1-2, 3-0-2 NCAC) scored in the 79th minute on a shot by Trevor Gleason. Five minutes later Wabash broke away on an offensive transition play. A tackle from behind by drew a red card on Kenyon's Luke Muther and put the Little Giants up a man for the final six minutes of regulation.
 
Senior captain Michael Tanchevski made good on the man advantage by scoring his first goal of the season on a header with only 59 seconds remaining in the second period to send the match into overtime.
 
The Little Giants nearly scored the victory when a shot by David Riggs sailed past Kenyon goalkeeper Ian McInturf but narrowly missed going into the goal by sailing just wide of the near-side post. The match ended after two ten-minute overtime periods with the 1-1 score.
 
Wabash goalkeeper Chad Wunderlich kept the Little Giants in the match by making six saves while facing a total of 24 shots by the Lords. Wabash fired six total shots in the match with two shots on goal on the header by Tanchevski and an attempt by Austin Hughes.
 
The Little Giants remain in third place in the NCAC standings after earning a point in Saturday's match versus Kenyon. Wabash will face conference leader Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, October 26 at home after playing Wittenberg University at home on Tuesday, October 22 at 4 p.m.
