Wabash turned five turnovers into 21 points on Saturday in a 38-3 win at Oberlin in North Coast Athletic conference football matchup.

Wabash (5-2, 5-1 NCAC) took advantage of five fumbles by the Yeomen (1-6, 1-5 NCAC), returning one for a touchdown on a
Jose Franco recovery and four-yard return. The Little Giants relied on the ground game on offense on a rainy and windy afternoon in northeast Ohio. Wabash rushed for 269 yards on 53 carries with two touchdowns. The Little Giants outgained Oberlin 408 to 190 in total offense.

Liam Thompson opened the scoring for Wabash with a seven-yard run to cap a nine-play, 62-yard drive in the first quarter. The Yeomen appeared poised to even the score near the end of the first period, moving the football to the Wabash five-yard line. The Little Giant defense rallied for the first turnover of the game when
Brandon Peck forced a fumble that
Patrick Kelly recovered in the end zone for a touchback. Wabash was unable to take advantage of the miscue and turned the ball back over on downs.

Oberlin cut the Little Giants' lead to 7-3 midway through the second period with a 29-yard field goal. Wabash scored its first points off an Oberlin turnover on the next Yeomen drive when Peck forced his second fumble of the game. Franco scooped up the loose football and ran it in for the touchdown and a 14-3 lead. Wabash added a 29-yard
Schuyler Nehrig field goal prior to the half to take a 17-3 lead to the locker room.

The Little Giants took the opening kickoff of the second half and marched 75 yards to take a 24-3 lead after Thompson connected with
Cooper Sullivan for a 14-yard touchdown pass. The Yeomen committed their third turnover on a fumbled punt return recovered by
Nick Fox to set up another 14-yard TD pass from Thompson, this time to
Devon Anderson.

Jake Reid took over at quarterback in the fourth quarter with Wabash leading 31-3. The senior ran for a four-yard touchdown after the Yeomen lost another fumble. Wabash picked up one more turnover on a fumbled punt by Oberlin with
Peyton Guidry making the recovery. The Little Giants returned the favor, fumbling the ball away for the second time in the game but the defense held its ground to keep the score at 38-3 at the final gun.

Wabash limited the Yeomen to 101 rushing yards and 89 passing yards for the game.
Isaac Avant led the Little Giants with 165 yards on 29 carries.
Mason Durrett added 75 yards on 16 attempts. Thompson completed 8-of-18 passes for 139 yards and two scores. Sullivan led the receivers with three catches for 33 yards.

Brandon Yeagy made a team-high 12 tackles for Wabash. The Little Giants tallied seven tackles for losses and one sack in addition to the five turnovers.
Jake Page made two tackles for losses totaling five yards.
David Marsh recorded the sack for one yard for Wabash.

The Little Giants remain tied atop the NCAC standings with Denison and Ohio Wesleyan with identical 5-1 records in conference play. Wabash plays Kenyon College at Hollett Little Giant Stadium next Saturday at 1 p.m.
