Wabash got goals from Joe Plencner and
Chase Cochran in its 2019 season-opening match against Calvin College. The Little Giants lost the home contest 8-2.

Wabash (0-1) kept Calvin off the scoreboard until the 5:31 mark of the first period. The visiting Knights (1-0) scored on a short-handed goal by Nathan Jindra to take a 1-0 lead. Cochran answered with his first goal of the season two minutes later with
Steven Stark scoring the assist to even the score at 1-1.

Calvin netted three goals in the second period to take a 4-1 lead into halftime, then scored the only three goals of the third period to move in front 7-1. After another goal by the Knights five minutes into the final period, Plencner picked up his first collegiate goal at 2:31 in the fourth off a pass from
AJ Shaheen.

Max Atkins made six saves and snared six groundballs in goal for Wabash.
Tucker Dixon, the Little Giants' leading scorer in 2018, paced the team's offensive effort Saturday with eight total shots and four shots on goal.
