Wabash closed out its season-opening series at Rhodes College with a split of Monday's doubleheader versus the host Lynx. The Little Giants won game one 7-3 prior to a 4-2 loss in a seven-inning game in the series finale.

Wabash (1-2) trailed 2-0 before putting up a four-run inning in the sixth in the first game.
Jackson Blevins opened the frame with one of his three walks in the game. The Little Giants loaded the bases with a pair of singles before
Cameron Martin drove in the first run with a single to center.
Erich Lange tied the game at 2-2 with the fourth consecutive base hit of the inning to score
Andrew Jumonville. A balk allowed
Matthew Annee to score the go-ahead run.
Jared Wolfe drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to left, plating Martin to make the score 4-2.

Starting pitcher
Kase Lawson cruised through the first five innings, scattering five hits and three walks and allowing just two runs. He struck out nine batters.

Blevins opened the next inning with another walk and came around to score on a single by Martin after Annee was hit by a pitch. Back-to-back walks to Lange and
Henry Wannemuehler brought home another run for 6-2 Wabash lead.

Ryan Thomas took over for Lawson in the sixth inning. Thomas worked two innings and struck out five of the eight batters he faced. He surrendered one run on two hits.

Rhodes (4-5) rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh inning off Thomas before
Zach Moffett came in to close the door on any rally by the Lynx. Moffett earned his first save of the season by pitching the final two innings of the game without allowing a hit. He walked two batters and struck out two. Wabash tacked on an insurance run in the ninth inning when
Nick Chao pinch-ran for Annee after a leadoff double in the inning. Chao score on an RBI single from Lange for the 7-2 Wabash victory.

Annee collected three of the Little Giants' 12 hits. Jumonville added two hits, while Wolfe, Blevins, and
Sean Roginski each had one hit apiece. Lange and Martin each picked up two RBI in the win.

Wabash took a 1-0 lead in game two after Jumonville led off the second inning with a single. The Little Giants loaded the bases before
Austin Simmers drew a walk to provide the early advantage. Rhodes answered with a pair of runs off Wabash freshman starter
Dylan Scheid in the bottom of the second to move in front 2-0. Scheid pitched four innings in his first collegiate start and allowed three hits, two walks, and two runs to go with two strikeouts.

The Little Giants scored another run in the fourth inning, tying the game at 2-2 on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Eric Chavez after
Canton Terry, Simmers, and Martin all drew walks to load the bases. Wabash drew nine walks in game two and 18 total in both of Monday's games. The Little Giants' 3-2 lead lasted until the bottom of the sixth inning when Rhodes plated a pair of runs off
Tyler Dearing who took the loss in relief. He pitched a third of an inning and was charged with two runs on two hits.
Kevin O'Donnell faced the final four batters of the sixth inning, allowing a fielder's choice that gave Rhodes a one-run lead. The Lynx added another run with a bases-loaded bunt hit before O'Donnell retired the final batters of the inning.

Roginski delivered a one-hit single for Wabash in the top of the seventh inning, but could not add another hit to lose the second game 4-2.

Wabash was held to two hits, one by Terry and one by Jumonville, in game two. Simmers drew three walks.

The Little Giants return to action on Sunday, March 3 with a double-header against Aurora University in Tucson, Arizona to kick off a series of six games at the Kino Sports Complex during the Wabash College spring break.
